Pavane for Palestine, Lachrimae – World Premiere Cancelled

March 23 @ 7:30 pm

Sad to share that Pavane for Palestine Lachrimae will not be performed at this concert after all.

Nearly half of the Nashville ensemble refused to play it- and did so so late that we could not find replacements.

This effort has been taking most of my time since October and the concert is
March 23  7:30pm

I was fortunate to receive a wonderful commission opportunity from Kelly Corcoran and her new music ensemble Intersection with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.

It was an wide open request for a classical composition for their ensemble. The Hamas attack and Israel’s subsequent bombing, displacement and killing of so many Palestinian civilians and children since that time, with support from the US has been heavily on my mind during this time and was my inspiration for this piece.

I hope that this music will encourage compassion and support for those still alive and trapped in Gaza.

Here is a link to the full concert details which include 3 premieres of new music!

I really like what Kelly Corcoran has to say about this concert and its themes of activism and humanity.

“Thin places are described in Celtic spirituality as places where the space between heaven and earth is thinner, or in more secular terms, they are spaces that invite us to connect with things beyond ourselves.  This concert, titled Thin Places to evoke this concept, presents the world premiere performances of three musical works written for Intersection in celebration of our 10th season.”
